Medical Genetics

Funds raised during the Fund-A-Need portion during our Glow Gala presented by RBC will support genomics-informed care provided by the Provincial Medical Genetics Program (PMGP), a provincial centre of excellence located at BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre. Genomics-informed care, particularly for patients with rare and/or inherited disorders, has been shown to result in faster and more accurate diagnoses, improved outcomes, and reduced health care costs.  Genomics care provides precise, patient-specific treatment plans for: expectant mothers that can save a newborn’s life upon delivery; critically-ill infants in the NICU; those born with genetic cancer susceptibility syndrome; patients with genetic eye-disorders and more. Let’s save little lives, and lengthen and improve quality of life for British Columbians.
