Maternal + Newborn Health
As the provincial leader in maternal and newborn care, BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre must be equipped to meet the urgent needs of mothers and their newborns who are at the highest risk.
With your support, BC Women’s Hospital will be the first hospital in Canada to use a Rotational Thromboelastometry (ROTEM) device to help diagnose postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) in new mothers.
A ROTEM device enables doctors to diagnose and immediately treat PPH, a condition that affects 1 in 10 women giving birth in BC, responsible for one-third of all maternal deaths worldwide. With this device, physicians can rapidly diagnose and treat blood clotting abnormalities in real time.
Your investment in the ROTEM device will ensure that new mothers with postpartum hemorrhage get the critical support they need quickly to prevent further health complications so they can focus on their new baby.
Help ensure that when families come to BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre for maternal care, the Centre can continue to offer the highest level of care based on cutting-edge research, crucial supports and technology and outstanding patient care. As a donor, when you support the health needs of moms, babies and families, you are helping to build a stronger community.
