Karen and Allen Wong, longtime dedicated supporters of BC Women’s Health Foundation, have generously pledged $10,000 to match every donation made to Women's Health Research Month until Friday, March 29th.
We are exploring ground breaking solutions and envisioning a future with innovative treatments and accessible healthcare.
Together we can transform the future of women’s and newborn health and make way for good things to come.
We’ve launched Women’s Health Research Month to raise funds to support high-quality, high-impact research to improve the health of women and newborns in BC.
Only eight percent of national research dollars are allocated to women’s health, despite women making up over half the population, highlighting the urgency for action.
BC Women’s Health Foundation (BCWHF), in partnership with Women’s Health Research Institute (WHRI), can address that gap. An investment in women’s health research is a step towards new evidence-based solutions that inform and transform the health and healthcare of all women.
Follow us all month for more on how we are working towards a healthier tomorrow.

Thanks to ongoing research, we are unveiling innovative approaches that facilitate enhanced healthcare accessibility for women.
Dr. Gina Ogilvie has played a pivotal role in implementing
at-home HPV screening pilot projects across British Columbia. As the province shifts to primary HPV screening for cervical cancer, Dr. Ogilvie’s ongoing guidance and expertise bring us closer to the goal of eliminating cervical cancer through early detection.
Innovations in women’s and newborn health are driven by attracting top talent and inspiring brilliant minds dedicated to their well-being.
Meet Dr. Emily Kieran and Dr. Souvik Mitra, Neonatologists and Clinician Researchers at BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre. With the support of a Catalyst Grant, Dr. Kieran was able to advance crucial research within the BC Women’s NICU Ladybug Pod, a specialized unit reserved for newborns requiring the most complex medical care. Dr. Mitra is spearheading neonatal advancements with TnECHO, offering state-of-the-art precision medicine to the most critically ill babies in the province.
Ongoing funding further improves training and care for these vulnerable infants. When you support #WHRM, you can make a direct impact for Clinician Researchers and care providers like Dr. Kieran and Dr. Mitra.
