The Canadian retail giant has been a long-time supporter of the BC Women’s Health Foundation through their participation in our Illuminations luncheon, Air Canada Birdies for Babies charity golf tournament, and our annual GLOW Gala.

But the philanthropy of Shoppers Drug Mart® goes far beyond that!

Over the past 10 years, the Shoppers Drug Mart® Life Foundation has raised over $1.2M through its LOVE YOU by Shoppers Drug Mart®  initiatives, quickly positioning itself as one of Canada’s leading fundraisers for women’s healthcare.

The LOVE YOU by Shoppers Drug Mart® program partners with local charities such as the BC Women’s Health Foundation, to help advance women’s health. Its interactive campaigns including the Run for Women event and the Growing Women’s Health Campaign engage thousands of individual donors across the country – all in support of women’s healthcare.

The Run for Women event, established in 2013, was the first national fundraiser to focus exclusively on women’s mental health – and the BC Women’s Health Foundation has been a proud partner ever since. Last year, the Run for Women event welcomed 1,738 participants – the highest number yet despite it being the first virtual year – raising more than $170,000 in support of women’s mental health.

This July, the Run for Women event will again be held virtually – with proceeds raised through Vancouver going to the BC Women’s Health Foundation’s Reproductive Mental Health Campaign, supporting innovative research at the Reproductive Mental Health Program at BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre.

Since 2011, the Growing Women’s Health Campaign has raised funds to support areas of greatest need for women’s health in our province. Over the past decade, store participation has grown to 30 stores across the Lower Mainland that donate to the BC Women’s Health Foundation. The campaign directly connects with Shoppers Drug Mart® customers who are invited by store associates to make a donation at checkout by purchasing a ‘Growing Women’s Health’ icon. This campaign is a proven example of successful teamwork and community investment – raising over $475,000 for these important causes.
