This holiday season, BC Women’s Health Foundation is celebrating special moments created by the world-class care that patients across all stages of life have experienced at BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre. Their stories embody the strength, resilience and hope across a diverse spectrum of experiences that were shaped at BC Women’s.
“The moment when I knew I was making a difference.”
– Angela Ha, BC Women’s Sadie Diamond Breast Imaging Supervisor
As the Breast Health Mammography Supervisor at BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre’s Breast Health Clinic, Angela has experienced significant changes in her nearly two years with the clinic. Many of these changes have been aimed at enhancing patient care through quality imaging, a dedicated team, and a streamlined approach to breast imaging and biopsies.
Angela, a working supervisor, combines her administrative role with hands-on patient care. “I, as part of a team, manage workflow, collaborate with radiologists, and ensure that our equipment is always functioning optimally,” she explains. “But I also work directly with patients as a breast technologist, performing mammograms, biopsies, and other procedures.” Angela takes pride in the team’s commitment to patient-centered care, which extends beyond imaging to providing compassionate support during often stressful times.
“Our patients come to us anxious about their results,” she shares. “They are incredibly appreciative of the care and attention they receive from our team. Knowing that we can provide them with high-quality imaging and empathetic support makes the work deeply rewarding.”
Recent renovations have further enhanced patient and staff experiences. The clinic now boasts an improved workspace for clerical teams, radiologists, and learners, as well as a recovery area designed with patient comfort in mind. “These upgrades have made a big difference in creating an environment that is efficient and welcoming for everyone,” says Angela.
The addition of new mammography units have streamlined procedures and shortened biopsy times. “These new and improved units have allowed us to refine our processes, which directly benefits our patients,” Angela notes. “When we’re able to focus on quality and care, the impact is clear.”
Angela emphasizes that the clinic’s progress wouldn’t have been possible without the ongoing support of BC Women’s Health Foundation and its donors. While their contributions have funded new equipment and renovations, Angela also highlights that it’s the clinic’s dedicated team that truly brings these improvements to life.
“It’s such a privilege to work with a team that is passionate about what they do and to have the resources to provide the best possible care,” she says. “We are so appreciative of the Foundation and its donors for enabling these advancements. On behalf of our entire team, thank you.”
